In 2009 nine south west Victorian secondary schools shared in a $50,000 Westvic Staffing Solutions Foundation windfall.
Schools were invited to apply for funding for projects or activities they felt could enhance students’ skills and employability, particularly in trade and trade-related areas, and ensure a smooth transition between school and the workforce. Over the course of the year, the funding was used for projects as diverse as establishing a mentoring program, building a community shed and buying specialised training software.
Each of the nine schools that benefited from the Westvic Foundation provided regular reports on progress toward achieving their project’s goals.
