Beginning in 1984 as group training company with a focus on building apprenticeships in Western Victoria, we have grown to provide a wide range of employment and training services to jobseekers and employers across the region.

Our history
1984 Westvic Staffing Solutions was established in 1984 under the then name of Western District Group Apprentices. The service was first located in Camperdown as a result of an initiative by the Town Council and 6 regional councils.
1984 Incorporation and commencement of apprenticeship labour hire services with 12 apprentices
1985 Relocated to Warrnambool at Warrnambool City Council offices
1986 52 apprentices employed in 11 trades with a staff of 3
1987 Apprentices engaged in Portland Smelter construction and production
1988 Ten trainees gained TAFE Awards four gained Gold and Silver medals in regional Skill Olympics
1989 Over 100 apprentices / trainees and first regional field officer appointed at Portland
1990 Electronic accounting software developed for group training services
1991 Move to Archie Graham Centre in Warrnambool and apprenticeship awards ceremony introduced
1992 Targeted Additional Apprenticeship Program introduced for out of trade apprentices
1993 Jobskills for jobseekers begun, we promote the Australian Vocation Certificate
1994 Jobclub, Land Environmental Action Program, Contracted Placements programs, Portland office opened at Shire of Glenelg
1995 Hamilton/Colac field officers appointed, Broccoli labour hire project, New Work Opportunities, move to 171 Lava St Warrnambool
1996 Case Management Services, Group Employment Project, Australian Student Traineeship Foundation, State Trainee of the Year Award
1997 Registered Training Organisation, Arrow Accounting package introduced, Colac/Hamilton offices opened
1998 Commonwealth Job Services Contract 1, Warrnambool Business Centre project, Westvic Business Training Centre opened, 30 staff, 115 apprentices, 117 trainees, new offices Portland/Hamilton
1999 Training retail, clerical, trainees, Work for the Dole, first school based trainees, State Apprentice of the Year Award, Priority Education and Training, Adult Community Education
2000 Job Network contract 2, New Apprentice Centre, Jobs Pathway Program, Access program, 400 apprentices and Trainees, 55 staff, new Colac offices
2001 Managed Individual Pathways Program, Community Jobs Program, Rural Environmental Action Program
2002 Warrnambool Coast Carers Project, Hamilton Power Corp Award, Surf to Sport Project, Rural Operations Program, Australian Quality Training Framework, VET support program
2003 Board restructure, organisational review, School Based Apprenticeship Development Project, Worn Gundidj Tourism project, 485 apprentices and trainees
2004 Westvic Youth Foundation support to schools and students, VET Excellence Awards
2005 Portland land purchase, Australian Technical College Wannon links begin
2006 New Apprenticeship Centre contract 2, Regional Jobs Package, Dairy Industry project, Group Training Innovation projects, Transition to Work, Labour Hire Mining Project Hamilton, Marshmans South West, World Skills Competitions/Try a Trade, Portland Westvic Careers Expo, Teachers in Industry, Westvic Excellence Awards
2007 Workplace Participation Partnerships, Over 35’s Vocation Skills Development, My People My Business, Westvic Restructure
2008 Certificate 4 Training and Assessment, Industry Training, Group Training Targeted Initiatives Program, Kick Start the Coast
2009 Job Services Australia contract 4, new $1.5m Portland offices, Colac offices purchased, new name Westvic Staffing Solutions
